Update: HaitiHelp, message from Appropriate Infrastructure Development Group (AIDG) |

Dear friends,
We would like to thank you all for your gracious support and overwhelming
response to our call for engineers. With submissions continuously pouring
in, we have had over 250 engineers worldwide from South Africa to Finland
offer their skills and expertise in support of Haiti’s relief effort.
The first group of three teams departed to respond to the preliminary
needs in Port-au-Prince, which includes inspection of warehouses and
buildings that can house medical facilities, shelters, as well as
food/water storage and distribution. By early next week more teams will
be sent to expand the scope of structural assessment and begin analysis of
next steps in the reconstruction of infrastructure in the country. Please
do not respond to this email. You will be notified if you are placed on a
team.
With hundreds of thousands of Haitians displaced by the earthquake, it is
our hope that as a community dedicated to improving lives through
appropriate infrastructure development we can help bring some refuge to
the people affected by this tragedy. In addition to sending these teams
of Haitian and international engineers, AIDG will also be providing 900
fuel-efficient stoves that will be set up in homes and refugee camps
within the country. This technology is essential in providing food and
clean water to displaced families.
We ask you all to join us in seeking donations that will support our
fellow colleagues in Haiti and the stove project. We are currently
fundraising to reach $65,000 to support this relief effort. Please
present this call for funds to your companies, associates, partners,
associations, clubs, university alumni, or any other friends and family.

Every dollar we raise will make an immediate and direct impact in the
relief effort in Haiti. We thank you all for your support and compassion
during this time and wish the engineering teams all the best in their
assignments.
Cordially,
AIDG Team
